WELCOME TO THE ONLY IAAF GOLD LABEL MARATHON IN NORTHERN EUROPE!
If you have never been to Riga then running a marathon or half-marathon could be a good reason to visit one of the most beautiful cities on the Baltic Sea coast. Marathon running has a long history in Riga City and after 28 years it has grown to welcome 37 500 runners from 78 countries offering five races - marathon, half-marathon, 10 km, 6 km, and 4.2 km Family Run together with many running festivities throughout the weekend. Tet Riga Marathon has been awarded to prestigious IAAF Gold Label thus confirming the high quality and excellent organizational level of the race.
Tet Riga Marathon 2019 will take place on May 18-19, 2019 (Saturday and Sunday) with five races and various events taking place throughout the weekend. Here’s the weekend programme for 2019:
|May 17, Friday||
|May 18, Saturday||
|May 19, Sunday|
The weather in Latvia is governed by a moderate oceanic climate. In May average air temperature is between +13C …+ 17C degrees. The probability of rainfalls in May is low. On average there are 21-25 sunny days in May and around 10 hours of daylight each day.
Have a quick look at the race from last year and feel the wonderful spring atmosphere.
The course lies in the very centre of Riga City and all runners can enjoy the charm of the largest city in the Baltic States. The course allows all visitors to run on both sides of the Daugava River, the largest river in Latvia and with the help of three bridges - Vanšu, Akmens and Salu. Runners can enjoy some of the most beautiful spots in Riga – the Art Nouveau district, the amazing panorama of Old Riga and Pārdaugava, as well as the paved streets of the Medieval Hanseatic Old Town and wooden architecture of Ķīpsala island. Riga is rather flat without significant hills or ascents; therefore the only major challenge is crossing the bridges.
The marathon course has been measured and certified by AIMS, the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races. All courses are traffic-free.
For other course maps and more detailed information about each race please visit the section The Races.

FINISHER'S MEDAL AND ART COLLECTION T-SHIRT
Finishers of all Tet Riga Marathon races will receive a commemorative medal. Each year in spring we present the new design for the upcoming race. In 2018, the Centenary Marathon, the design included motifs from the pre-war coin of five Lats (Latvia's pre-war currency) and one of the most powerful Latvian independence symbols - The Latvian girl affectionately known as Milda.
Art collection t-shirt
Each year Lattlecom Riga Marathon collaborates with popular Latvian artists who create original artwork for the official marathon t-shirt. In 2018 the shirt featured another powerful symbol - the legendary hero Lāčplēsis, which was done by one of the world’s most well-known artists of Latvian origin - Gustavs Klucis (1895-1938). Klucis’ original work was symbolically bought at auction in Riga on the 18th November 2017, the Independence Day of Latvia. The official t-shirts are available to participants as an additional order.
Number of participants
We take great pride in the fact that Tet Riga Marathon is the most international Baltic marathon - a record number of 4243 international runners from 78 countries registered for the race in 2018! Saturday’s Rimi Kids’ Day gathered 12 000 kids, while Sunday’s distances combined 25 645 runners (marathon - 2074, half-marathon - 5395, 10 km - 6975 and 6 km - 11201).
